                She was born in South Korea and immigrated to the United States in 1987. Soon has an associate degree in commercial art from Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton, Virginia. Soon paints in both oil and watercolor. Her favorite subjects are those found in nature: people, an animal, trees, a tangerine, pear, Oriental poppy, iris or something of intrigue at the moment. Flowers from her gardens often become models for paintings. She is inspired by the beauty and complexity of nature and her surroundings.  She paints the essence of subjects and her sincere feeling for nature. She was named one of US’s top 15 watercolorists in the last 20 years.
