Biography: In 2007, Amalia moved to Spokane from Seattle, where she had previously lived for 20 years. She attended Cornish College of the Arts and the University of Washington where she received a B.F.A. in Printmaking. She taught and raised a family and now, in her early 50’s, she has found the space and time to dedicate herself fully to her art and is focusing her attention to exploring new mediums, most notably watercolor.

Artist Statement:
My work is varied in subject matter and style. I am completely obsessed at the moment with painting landscapes, most notably in Plein Air, (outdoors, on location). I love the endless possibilities watercolor affords me. Its translucent nature allows for layers of pigment and textures to show through.
