I started painting later in life. We were given a Sabbatical for eight months to Cambridge, UK. Surprisingly, our son had given me watercolors for that Christmas. It was a fortuitous gift. I had eight months of uncommitted time, and I started painting while listening to books on tape of classical literature. Upon returning from England, I took four classes at Whitworth University (2014-16): Drawing, two Watercolor classes and an Oil Painting class.
I am retired and now have my own studio at home. I enjoy painting nearly every day. I choose my subjects from people I know, our large backyard garden and the wonders of nature. I’m also interested in Icon painting, and recently sold an Icon of John the Baptist. I love music, having taught Ballroom dancing for thirty-four years at university level. I always paint “to a beat!” Mozart and Brahms inspire my brush strokes. Contact Janie: (509) 468-0860
