About the Artist
My roots are in Montana and much of my inspiration for paintings has come from Big Sky scenes. I started painting primarily after retirement and like to experiment with different directions in painting. This is why I have avoided the development of “a particular style”. “Nature supplies unlimited sources of inspiration for my work and watercolor is perhaps my favorite media as it combines spontaneity and fluidity with rich natural texture.”
As a member of the NW Watercolor Society in Seattle and The Spokane Watercolor Society, my paintings have been accepted in a NWWC national show and in several Spokane Watercolor Society shows. My paintings are in various private collections around the country. Also, my work was represented in a Kirkland WA. Gallery for several years. Early on, I did not sell my work but instead painted for my own and my family’s pleasure.
A few years back I demonstrated watercolor technique at the Bellevue Museum of Art, designed the new modular display systems for the MAC and worked with the curator to design the Taos painters show.
My professional work background has been in multiple career fields: Industrial Design, Industrialized Housing Design, Facilities Planning, and Design Consulting. I worked for large corporations such as Philco Ford, Boise Cascade and am retired from BOEING. I have had my own consulting firm(s) in both Spokane and Newport Beach CA.
My education includes degrees from Montana State and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. I taught night school design courses at the Philadelphia College of Art and years later at Spokane Falls Community College.
