Ron is a Professor Emeritus, UW, a retired architect and urban planner, retired principal of Kasprisin Pettinari Design; and a Signature Member of the Northwest Watercolor Society. He is self-taught, benefiting from many workshops with Master painters. He is the author of seven books on design and composition with his new book "Working Architecture of North America" due out this fall 2026, featuring his watercolors from academic and professional projects.

Ron considers himself an impressionist artist, painting loose and with gusto; alluding to detail with strong color variations. His work is inspired by the working communities of the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and Canada.
